Welcome 2012, what will you bring?

2011 has been another good year here at Hen Corner, here are some reminders of the highlights…

We started to learn the art of cheesemaking in May when our friends Richard & Rachelle came to stay from Australia. August brought the delights of our first hatching chicks; above is Butternut with the two Barnevelders. We were also excited to receive a nucleus colony of bees, on loan, to help us with our Plan Bee.

In September we gave our new 30l cider press it’s debut run and took Hen Corner to the streets of Camden for the Belsize Green Fair. October launched our first Harvest Fare Trade, ‘Make it, Bake it, Grow it, Sew it’, where friends and neighbours brought items to swap.

Whilst we’ve been busy in the kitchen and the garden, trying to live ‘A little bit of country life in West London… ‘  It’s been a pleasure to welcome journalists, photographers and film crews to Hen Corner encouraging others to ‘Join us on the Journey’. Here you can see us in the Market Kitchen studio where we were guests on their ‘Big Adventure’ show featuring Hampshire.

For more details of our media opportunities see here.

The final highlight for 2011 was the launch of Hen Corner TV…

We have several films around this site, try the About and Cider tabs and below is a reminder of our Bees Winter Feed.

Jobs for next week:

  • Start sowing seeds following the new Planting Plan ’12
  • Prepare to launch Hen Corner TV: Ten Top Tips for Keeping Chicks
  • Deep clean the empty Eglu Go ready for hatching some ducklings in the Spring…

For fortnightly email updates of our news do subscribe (top right) and may 2012 bring you health and faith for all that it may hold.

Have a good week yourself…

  1. It was fun to see your bees get excited in the feeder as you poured in the winter feed. Can’t wait till spring when beekeeping starts again!

    • I loved your post on Oxalic Acid, hopefully meet you & Emily at the EDBKA apiary in the spring…
